Choosito! Official Competitor at XPRIZE
Choosito is building a game-changing AI solution that enables every child in the world to visit
an online Childrenʼs Library with a Virtual Librarian that speaks their language, knows their
strengths and weaknesses, their abilities and their interests, and is always there for them.
Through our AI technology, we give children functional access to the almost limitless amount
of useful and FREE materials available via the web. We are proud to have won the highly
competitive IBM Watson AI XPRIZE Runner-Up Milestone Award on December 6, 2018 at the
NeurIPS 2018 conference.
Virtual Librarian
The Virtual Librarian is now accessible to teachers and students participating in our pilots.
We have, also, made available to the community a Public Library of resources that can be accessed and browsed here.
Our Partners
Refugee Programs
In support of the XPRIZE competition, Choositoʼs Virtual Librarian will reach hundreds of
refugee children with limited or no access to formal education settings this summer through
formal research pilot programs with the following organizations:
-
Athens Partnership
| By working with Bloomberg Associates, a pro bono city
consulting service offered by Bloomberg Philanthropies, Athens formed an independent
nonprofit entity known as the Athens Partnership.
-
ELIX
| A Greek NGO running the program; Learning for Integration Project: Quality
Learning and Non-Formal Education for Refugees and Migrant Children in Greece
-
HIAS
| Based in Pennsylvania, HIAS provides legal and supportive services to
immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers.
-
Daraja Academy
| A Kenyan academy that provides an exemplary secondary education
to girls who have no other means to attend school. They are girls
who—despite their circumstances—earn high grades in primary
school, give back to their communities, and demonstrate
leadership. They show courage and kindness when faced with
adversity. They are the kind of girls who can disrupt the cycle of
poverty and act as champions of equality if only given the chance.
One day, we hope that every girl will receive the education she
needs to better her life, her community, and her world.
-
SNHU
| Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) has teamed up with YWCA
NH to run the SNHU Center for New Americans at YWCA NH to help
local refugees and immigrant populations gain access to education
and other support services in New Hampshire. The Center provides
credentialed ESOL programming, mentorship and coaching, college
preparation, cultural orientation, and college-level courses and
degrees out of the YWCA NH location in Manchester.
